1. Tell us about yourself…

I’ve been married to my high school sweetheart for 31 years, and we have two kids, 27 and 28. They are the main reason I started in the industry. I began my career as a general manager in retail, but moved into transportation to work standard hours and spend more time with my family. Roger, CEO at Radius, recruited me back when the company was still International FreightLink, and I’ve been here ever since! I spend my free time playing hockey, skiing, golfing. My wife and I love to travel in our RV, and fly to hot destinations in the winter, we recently got back from a Mexican cruise!

2. What is your role at Radius Logistics?

I’m a National Account Executive, working on business development and key account management here at Radius. I manage the relationships for many of our major accounts, and work to source new customers for the company. An area of focus for me since the beginning has been building our customer base in Southern California, which see’s me travelling between Vancouver and California regularly.

3. What do you love most about your job?

A career in sales can be very exciting. I get to meet new people, learn about their businesses, and work to provide creative supply chain solutions that meets their needs. Working for a 3PL provider is particularly interesting. Every company, regardless of industry, needs logistics. I meet distributors, retailers and wholesalers in a range of industries, anywhere from automotive, to garments, to food. I have the opportunity to learn about many different businesses, which keeps things interesting. You really need to understand a business if you want to gain the attention of potential clients and find creative solutions for them.

4. What are 3 words you would use to describe Radius Logistics?

Caring, Hard working, Detailed.

5. Where do you see Radius Logistics in ten years? How about the industry as a whole?

The logistics industry has grown tremendously over the past 10 years and will continue to evolve as more and more companies look to expand globally and shift towards e-commerce. This means that there will be an increased need to improve efficiencies and streamline operations to remain competitive. Being a leader in the industry will require that we find new and innovative ways to provide the highest level of customer service. Radius Logistics is already adapting to this need with our state of the art management software, which integrates all services, including costs and coordination of shipments, along with real time reporting for our customers. This reduces time and money required by our clients, helping them stay ahead of the competition. Our company will only continue to mold to big data and information on demand.

6. What would you say to employees looking to grow within the company? What is the best career/life advice you have ever received?

I think the best advice I have is to work as if it was your own company. The sense of personal investment will make all the difference in their growth and success. Thinking back to my early days in sales, I’ve always followed the motto to treat your customers as you would like to be treated.

7. If you could travel one place by air freight, ocean freight or ground freight, where would it be and which method of transportation would you choose?

I would have to choose Ireland! I’ve never been and it’s high on my list. Ideally, we would fly by air, but I’ll take first class over the cargo-hold.

8. If you were stuck on a desert island and could only have one item couriered to you by Radius Courier – what would it be?

I would have to have an iPod to help pass the time.

9. What’s your go to travel song?

“Toes” by Zach Brown Band. It’s the ultimate vacation song!
